Numbers Tell the Story in Affiliate Marketing
April 26, 2008
In the ever changing landscape of business opportunities on the internet, the buzz is all about the benefits of affiliate marketing. To be sure there are diverse benefits with money at the top of the benefit list. That is a powerful tool, perhaps greater than any crawler or spider of the SEO’s. No one is asking you to Scrub Money. By chance someone is doing so send them on over to my site. The complex choices one faces actually involves what products to market or be affiliated with.
For anything to work there must be compelling factors in the business model. Marketing and reaching your target prospect is still a numbers game. You need massive traffic to come to your site to achieve sales. In one affiliate site I learned the conversion rate of traffic is 2%. That translate into the statistics that only 2% of the traffic will buy. For instance if you had 10,000 people look at your site and 2% purchased the product or service that amounts to only 200 purchases. The question then is how to increase those numbers and improve the statistics model.
Based on these statistics it seems to me you best select several affiliate programs to participate in because of the numbers factor alone. The numbers factor indicates you must drive massive traffic numbers to your site.
Another factor to consider is that people are driven by emotions and buy for the fulfillment of emotional satisfaction. When you offer several different products or services you increase your odds that you will have something to offer that triggers a response inside the visitor to compel them to buy and fulfill their emotional needs.
Again you are dealing with numbers when you offer several products. In this article I am not addressing colors and layouts. Though the internet brings the world to your site at the click of the mouse the world must still find you in cyber space.
In evaluating the downside of affiliate marketing know that the necessity of massive traffic is a huge undertaking. If the numbers to earn money are high then you must find a way to optimize the traffic results. One way to increase those odds is to offer numerous products. This approach creates a business model of numbers that increases proportionately with the number of products you offer. If you could capture 2% of all the different products would that increase your bottom line drastically or dramatically? Would that be “Awesome?” True or True? You got the answer; didn’t you? It is True.
Since people buy to fill emotional needs as well as physical needs, does it stand to reason you should optimize on the “impulse purchase?” “Yes” or “Yes?” As you guessed the answer is “Yes”. While many tell you to select a product or service to market that you love and I agree with that approach to a degree of logic, yet suggest you maintain a money barometer on the money platform radar. Therefore you must also select products or services the buying public needs or thinks they need. So if you love it and they don’t; will you make sales? Select the appropriate answer. “No” or “No”. I trust you got the right answer for it will help you in your choices to market or affiliate with.
It is evident from statistics that you need numbers, relationships, affiliations and customers to earn significant amounts of money. If you choose to sell only what you love to sell you will not likely have massive streams of income unless you luck out and love the trend of the moment. The Now Generation is moving faster than a Nano Second, and leaving behind streams of demands that generate gold dust as big as snow flakes in a winter storm if you happen to be in the eye of their “purchase storm”. Now how likely is that to happen if you sell only what you love? ”Not” or “Not? “ I mean are we talking numbers and odds here? Reality dose of medicine here.
Yes you need massive numbers yet you also need products and services. While serving a niche market is a good place to start how many got on the train before it came to your station? That being said what can increase your odds for you? Research the trends and see where millions are placing their money. Ascertain what emotional needs are apparent in given age groups and how much disposable income is spent fulfilling needs that go beyond basics.
In the upcoming days I will share some of the trends that are Hotter than Hot and might even make you a Hot Winner. No matter the market, the equation of emotional needs enters the business model and purchase paradigm. We will learn how to “Find a Need of the masses and Fill It” and you will never be broke. Plus you will piles of money.
